WILMINGTON, MA — Elizabeth A. Boucher, “Betty”, age 74, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on December 6, 2024.
Betty was born on August 12, 1950, in Somerville, MA; she was the cherished daughter of Hazel (Graham) Proto of Wilmington and the late Robert Grady. Betty was raised and educated in Arlington.
Betty worked as a medical secretary at Lahey Clinic in Burlington for more than thirty-four years.
Betty married Edward “Ed” Boucher on September 18, 1971; they settled in Wilmington where they raised their two daughters, Jennifer and Shana. Betty loved being a mom; she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially for the holidays. She had an “open door” policy, where everyone was welcome; she was happy to cook for anyone who visited. Betty was a proud nana and looked forward to watching them grow up and being part of their life’s accomplishments.
In her spare time, Betty loved to travel; She loved vacationing at their lake house at Lake Winnipesaukee and loved going to the local hall for a night of bingo and vacations in Aruba with her family and friends. Betty was an avid reader; she looked forward to reading a good novel. She loved to play games, especially on holidays with all her family.
Betty will be remembered for her love of Barry Manilow; she attended many concerts and was so excited when she had the opportunity to meet him. She was a very caring and giving person; always putting others ahead of herself.
Betty was the beloved wife of Edward Boucher, devoted mother of Jennifer Boucher of Wilmington and Shana Wesley & her husband Thomas of Chelmsford, loving “Nana” of Sam Cedrone and Ella Cedrone, dear sister of Richard Grady of Lowell, Robert Grady & his wife Roberta of Wilmington and the late Paul Grady, aunt of Jason Grady, Adam Grady, Connor Grady, and Aiden Grady, and Great-aunt of Samantha Grady.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, December 14th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
