Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Rosemarie C. Bromander (Kahler), fondly known as “Rose” to her family and friends, age 94, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2024.
Rose was born in Jamaica Plain, MA, on September 25, 1930; she was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony W. and Alice M. (Kenneally) Kahler. Rose was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain; she was extremely close to her mom and took pride in her Irish heritage.
Rose married “her sweetheart” Sidney Bromander in September of 1953; the couple shared more than 50 years together and made countless memories with family and friends before his untimely passing in July of 2004. Rose and Sidney had their dream home built and moved “up country” to Wilmington in 1955 where they raised three wonderful sons. Rose was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who took pride in her home and her family. Rose had an “open door” policy, and everyone was welcome; she loved hosting family gatherings and holidays just to have everyone around and having a good time.
Rose worked hard throughout her life; she started her career as an accounts payable clerk for several companies before taking a position as an administrative clerk at Austin Prep. High School in Reading. Rose loved working at the school; she made many friends with the administration as well as the students and they in turn loved her.
In her spare time, Rose looked forward to going to the Senior Center in Wilmington where she participated in their many activities and enjoyed their exercise classes. Rose also had a competitive streak when it came to her weekly card games with her friends or playing bingo with the gang at Windsor Place.
Rose was also very talented when it came to knitting and crocheting; she made countless baby blankets and prayer shawls that she donated to area hospitals and of course she made many beautiful gifts for her family and friends.
Rose had an unwavering faith in God and was an active parishioner at St. Thomas Church in Wilmington for many years. Rose leaned on her faith in difficult times and prayed for others when she felt they needed an extra prayer.
Rose will be fondly remembered for her endearing personality, great sense of humor, and her unconditional love of family and friends. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Bromander, devoted mother of Edward Bromander and fiancé Marianne DeCelles of Tewksbury, MA, Roy Bromander and wife Judi of Salem, NH, and the late Thomas Bromander, mother-in-law of the late Nancy Bromander. Loving “Grammy” of Stefanie Engel and husband Chris, Kyle Bromander and fiancé Jenn Cresta, Edward “EJ” Bromander and fiancé Kristina Robinson, Ryan Bromander, and Evan Bromander, dear sister of Virginia McIntyre and husband Jack of Mashpee and the late William Kahler. Rose is also survived by her extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, December 11th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.
