- The Town of Wilmington is holding a Special Town Meeting at 9am in the High School’s Auditorium. There are five warrants on the article — three of which involve the creation of a MBTA Communities Multi-Family Overlay District. Learn more about the Meeting HERE.
- The Town of Wilmington’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place from 4pm to 7pm on the Wilmington Town Common. Santa will arrive at 5:45pm to light up the Common for the holiday season.This annual popular event, organized by the Wilmington Fourth of July Committee, will feature the following:
- Horse-drawn hayrides
- Complimentary Cookies (baked by Shawsheen Tech Culinary Arts students) and hot chocolate served by WHS Cheerleaders
- Glow sticks for children
- Ice sculpture sponsored by the Wilmington Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce and some of its member companies
- Wilmington Minutemen with lanterns
- Wilmington High School a cappella group “Soundscape” leading Christmas Carols
- Wilmington Community Fund annual Wilmington-themed ornament sales inside the Fourth of July Building
- Members of the Wilmington Firefighters collecting unwrapped toys and donations for Wilmington children
- Clergy from parishes throughout the town presenting the story of Christmas
Santa will arrive promptly at 5:45pm to lead the countdown. After the festivities on the Common, Santa will be present in the Fourth of July Building for photos.
- We’re One Wilmington’s (WOW) Festival of Trees is back for its 14th year at Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Ave) on Friday, December 6, 2024, 9am to 9pm; Saturday, December 7, 2024, 9am to 9pm; and Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 9am to noon. Learn more HERE.
- The Greater Boston Antiques Show will take place at Wilmington’s Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 11am to 4pm. The show, organized by Goosefare Antiques & Promotions, will feature more than 60 exhibitors across seven states. Attendees can shop for furniture, formal & country, Americana, folk art, American & European fine glass, porcelains, art pottery, jewelry & silver paintings and fine art, drawings, watercolors, maps, and ephemera. - The New England Woodcarvers is holding a special carving event, from 9am to 4pm, in the basement of St. Thomas Church (126 Middlesex Avenue). This event is open to the public. Attendees may come and go as they please. Bring $7 for a pizza lunch, or bring your own sack lunch. The event features carving projects for attendees with different skill levels. - Designs By Don Florist is offering a Boxwood Tree Class at 7pm at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue). Create a beautifully crafted boxwood tree to take home! This festive evening will also include appetizers, holiday bingo with prizes, and many giveaways—perfect for friends and family to celebrate the season together. - Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) hosts karaoke from Winnell Entertainment on Saturdays beginning at 8pm.
- The Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm. Learn about the canal, which travels through Wilmington.
