OBITUARY: John C. Crupi, 70

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — John C. Crupi, age 70, of Andover, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, with his family at his side.

John was born on September 11, 1954, in Cambridge, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Antonio and Olivia (Guarnieri) Crupi. John was raised in Nahant; he went on to graduate from BC High School with the Class of 1972. John continued his education at Boston College where he met and fell in love with Karen Siragusa while they were still teenagers.

John and Karen married in November of 1978; the couple lived in Waltham, Nahant and Somerville before settling in Wilmington where they raised two wonderful children, Elena and Anthony.

John quickly became very involved in his new community and made many friends. John, along with his brother Carl started the A-1 Fish and Lobster Company in Wilmington where they dealt in wholesale as well as retail sales. John had an endearing personality, a great work ethic and was wonderful with the local customers; all attributes that made him successful throughout the years. John and Carl expanded into the restaurant business and opened the A-1 Fish and Lobster Restaurant in Tewksbury which they ran for many years. Always one for a new business venture, John went on to get his contracting license and initially transitioned part-time into the construction industry before becoming a full-time builder specializing in residential homes. John was also very involved with the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington where he gladly volunteered his time and talents for countless community events.

John worked hard throughout his life, but he also knew how to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. John looked forward to spending time at their family home on Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, NH, where his door was always open, and many wonderful memories were made. John loved to go boating in the summer months and snowmobiling in the winter; he also enjoyed camping and hunting with his family and friends. John just loved to have everyone around and made sure they all had a great time no matter what they were doing.

In his spare time, John enjoyed listening to music especially Van Morrison or Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead; he was a true “dead head”. John was known to be an avid reader, a talented gardener back in the day, and a great Patriots fan who held season tickets for many years throughout the “dynasty era”.

John was proud of his Italian heritage and traditions; he had his dual-citizenship and thought it was important that his wife did as well. John loved to make wine and to participate in the Crupi family’s annual ravioli day, he took his job as the official “counter” very seriously. John loved to entertain and cook for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve with the Italian traditions of the seven fishes and stuffed lobsters; he and Karen always had a house full and that was the way he liked it.

John will be fondly remembered as a “great guy” who loved his family and friends unconditionally. He was very kind, generous, and willing to help anyone in need. John had a huge heart, a great sense of humor, and a beaming smile. He will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was the beloved husband of Karen (Siragusa) Crupi, devoted father of Elena M. Crupi of Tewksbury and the late Anthony M. Crupi. Cherished son of the late Antonio and Olivia Crupi, loving brother of Carl and Maribeth Crupi and Gracemarie and Rob Niceforo all of Wilmington, dear son-in-law of the late Gerlanda and Francis Siragusa, brother-in-law of Christine and the late William Starratt of Lowell, formerly of Wilmington, and Gerard and Elizabeth Siragusa of Derry, NH. John is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
