WILMINGTON, MA — Nancy A. Fontaine (Steenbruggen), age 87, of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024.
Nancy was born in Medford, MA, on May 29, 1937; she was the cherished only daughter of the late Francis and Catherine (Aldenburg) Steenbruggen.
Nancy was the beloved wife of William F. Fontaine, devoted mother of Cathy Aberle and her husband David of Derry, NH and William F. Fontaine, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Tewksbury. Special Grandmother of Vincent Montello and Zakary Fontaine, dear sister of the late Garrett Steenbruggen and Richard Steenbruggen. Nancy is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Nancy will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady who was devoted to her family; she was an amazing cook and a talented seamstress. Nancy loved everything about the holidays, from decorating, to cooking and baking, buying the most thoughtful gifts, and having her house full of family and friends.
Nancy also looked forward to summers and weekends at the family camp on Sebago Lake in Maine. She loved swimming, camping, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors. Nancy also had a bit of a competitive side that loved rooting for her favorite sports teams or watching car racing and cheering on her favorite drivers.
Nancy had a soft side for animals of all kinds, but she especially loved dogs and spoiled her many family pets throughout the years.
Nancy’s family and friends will remember her as a lovely person who was kind, generous, and always willing to help others; she will forever be loved and missed by all.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, October 16th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
