VIRTUAL 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group

The Massachusetts Library Collaborative’s 50+ Job Seekers Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. This month’s topic is Thinking Outside the Box.

Afternoon Concert: Jimmy Geany & Ray Cavicchio
Thursday, October 17, 2:30pm
Hailing from Boston’s North End, Jimmy Geany, a versatile tenor, has been entertaining audiences from Florida to Boston to New York, New Jersey, Las Vegas, and even Italy. He will be accompanied by well known Boston area entertainer, Ray Cavicchio, for smooth renditions of Italian and Italian American classics.

Novel Ideas

Enjoy reading fiction? Join the library’s fiction book group led by Adult Services Librarian Erin Driscoll. Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the featured book. This month’s featured book is The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.

Needleworkers
Friday, October 18, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop in.

Youth Programs

VIRTUAL Paying for College 101
Tuesday, October 15, 7pm
College is a significant investment, and understanding how to finance your child’s education path after high school is crucial. However, it can be a daunting task. In this workshop, Tom O’Hare, our seasoned College Advisor, will discuss college savings options and tips and provide practical strategies to implement to supplement your ability to pay. Whether your child is in 9th grade or about to graduate, it’s never too early to start planning for their college education. Please note that this is a virtual program; you will receive the Zoom link on the day of the program. Teens and Adults

Teen Leadership Council

Family Craft Night: Autumn Paper Lanterns
Wednesday, October 16, 6pm
This month, paper mache an autumn lantern! Add fall leaves or draw a jack-o-lantern face and add a battery-powered tea light! This is a messy one, folks – dress accordingly! Ages 3+

Manga Tryouts
Thursday, October 17, 3:30pm
Have a say in manga purchased for the teen collection with this new club! During each meeting, we’ll sample 1st volumes of different manga, and vote on whether it should be added to WML’s collection. Grades 6-12

Read to Stormy
Thursday, October 17, 4pm
Practice your reading skills with Therapy Dog, Stormy! Sign up for one 15-minute session per child or family. If you would like for more than one child to attend the 15-minute session together, please sign up one child and siblings and caregivers are welcome to join. Grades K-6

Switch it Up! Video Game Club
Friday, October 18, 3:45pm
Love video games? Come to this once-a-month video game club to play Switch games with friends! Grades 1-5

Babysitting Course
Saturday, October 19, 9am – 4pm
In this all day course, participants ages 11-18 years old will learn the skills needed to become responsible babysitters. The course will teach babysitting safety, how to handle different situations while taking care of children, and provide a 4-H babysitting guide. Ages 11-18

Teen DnD
Saturday, October 19, 2pm
Interested in finding out more about this fantasy tabletop role-playing game, or looking for a group to play with? This month’s session will be IN PERSON at the library. You may also participate on Discord, a private server. We use DnDBeyond to track and create our characters. Grades 6-12

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

Museum Passes
The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list on our website!

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.
