NEW SENIOR CENTER: Read The Latest Newsletter For The Senior Center Building Project

WILMINGTON, MA — Read the latest newsletter for the Wilmington Senior Center Building Project, published by P3, the project’s OPM firm.

To the Residents of Wilmington,

We are excited to bring you the latest update on the progress of our beloved Wilmington Senior Center! The construction team has been hard at work, and we have some significant developments to share with you.

Parking Lot Lighting Installation:

A significant step toward improving the safety and accessibility of the Senior Center is the installation of the parking lot lighting. Many of the light stands have already been put in place, ensuring the area will be well-lit for visitors and staff, especially during evening hours. These lights are critical for both security and ease of use as the center begins to serve the community.

Masonry Stonework and Building Exterior:

The beautiful masonry stonework, which adds both durability and aesthetic appeal to the building, is expected to be completed this week. Following this, the construction team will shift focus to the exterior of the building, giving it a finished look. This will include insulation, exterior paneling, and final touches to enhance the center’s design and energy efficiency. These efforts will not only add curb appeal but will also provide a weather-resistant barrier for the structure.

Parking Lot Paving:

The next major development will be the paving of the parking lot. Once completed, the paved lot will offer ample parking spaces and a smooth, easy-to-navigate surface. This phase is a key part of ensuring the center is accessible for seniors and visitors, and will help to finalize the exterior grounds of the property.

Interior Sheetrock Installation:

Inside the building, the sheetrocking process is in full swing. With the rough-in work for both electrical and plumbing systems completed, the crew is now working to finish the walls. They are progressing methodically from one end of the building to the other, creating a more defined space in preparation for the next stages of interior finishes. This marks a critical point in the construction, as the building’s layout and interior design begin to take shape.

Roof Installation:

Roofing work is scheduled to start shortly, and this phase is anticipated to take about a week to complete. Once the roof is fully installed, it will protect the building from weather conditions, enabling interior work to continue smoothly. The roof will also play a crucial role in the overall energy efficiency and insulation of the center.

These updates highlight the continued momentum on-site, as we remain on schedule to complete the Wilmington Senior Center. As always, we will keep the community informed with regular progress updates as we move closer to our goal of creating a welcoming, accessible space for our seniors.
