WILMINGTON, MA — Alice E. Shea, age 84, of Venice, FL, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 16, 2024.
Alice was born on April 8, 1940, in Galway, Ireland; she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Gill) McEvilly. Alice immigrated to the United States in April 1963.
Alice met and married her loving husband, Francis J. Shea in April 1966. The couple settled in Wilmington where they raised their three children, Frank, Mary, and Kathy. Alice and Francis shared many wonderful memories until he passed away from cancer in April 1987.
Alice worked at Scully Signal Company for many years before retiring in April 2005. Following her retirement, she moved to Florida where she enjoyed the rest of her days making new friends and loving her retirement.
In her spare time, Alice enjoyed taking walks and coloring. She will be remembered for her love of animals and her family.
Alice is survived by her children Francis P. Shea of Billerica, Mary E. (Shea) Doherty and her husband Edward F. Doherty of Venice, FL, Kathleen T. (Shea) McGurl and her husband Brian McGurl of Billerica, MA. Alice is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Shea and Sarah Shea of North Andover, MA, Colin Shea and Patrick Shea of Billerica, MA and Colleen McGurl and William (Billy) McGurl of Billerica MA and her two great-granddaughters, Rose and Grace Sousa of North Andover.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, September 28th at 9:30 immediately followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 27th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
