OBITUARY: Julie A. (Herra) LeBlanc, 52

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Julie A. (Herra) LeBlanc, age 52, of Wilmington, formerly of Somerville, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2024, at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.

Julie was born on March 20, 1972, in Somerville, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Nancy (Marchetti) Herra. Julie was raised and educated in Somerville where she made many life-long friends and graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1990. Julie went on to continue her education at UMass Boston where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and embarked on a long and rewarding career.

Julie was so proud of being a nurse, she was a wonderful advocate for her patients and their families. Julie worked tirelessly in the ICU unit at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge for many years; she was amazing at her job and when the Covid pandemic hit she put her fears aside and jumped into action to give her patients in ICU the best care possible. Julie’s endearing personality and willingness to help others made her quite successful throughout her career.

On October 14, 2000, Julie married her sweetheart and best friend Derek LeBlanc; the couple settled in Tewksbury for a couple of years before moving to Wilmington in 2002 where they raised three beautiful children. Julie’s family was “her world”; she was very devoted to raising her children, never missing a school or sporting event; she was always their biggest fan and was so proud of them. Julie taught her children to do their best, the importance of family, and to always be kind to others; she was a wonderful mentor and role model.

Julie looked forward to vacations with family and friends, especially their trips to Florida where many wonderful memories were made. Julie loved spending time at Hampton Beach or York Beach whether it was soaking up the sun or hitting the waves with the kids; everyone always had a great time with her no matter what they were doing. Julie was just so much fun to be around.

Julie will be remembered for her “mischievous” sense of humor; she loved to pull a great practical joke and really enjoyed making others laugh. Julie was so many things to so many people; she was generous, she was kind, and she would go out of her way to help anyone, no questions asked. Julie was beautiful inside and out; she had a warm smile, a heart of gold, and she would light a room whenever she entered. Julie’s life was all too brief, but her memory will forever live on in the heart of those she loved.

Julie was the beloved wife of Derek LeBlanc, devoted mother of Ryan, Adam, and Alexis LeBlanc all of Wilmington, loving sister of her identical twin Janice Medeiros and her husband Josh of Cumberland, RI, Paul Herra and his wife Virginia of Fitchburg, and Ed DeSciscio and his wife Kim of Middleboro. Dear niece of Maureen and Jim Heath of Medford and the late Carl Marchetti of Barnstable, daughter-in-law of Dianne and the late Eugene LeBlanc of Wilmington, special sister-in-law of Eugene Jr. and Eileen LeBlanc, Darren and Karolyn LeBlanc all of Wilmington, and Amy Zaccagnini and her husband Lenny of Billerica. Julie is further survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, September 20th from 3:30-7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.
