LIBRARY NEWS: Wilmington Library To Hold 16 Programs Next Week, Including Brewery Tour On September 26

Below is a list of upcoming events from the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Adult Programs

Bookends Book Group
Monday, September 23, 10am
This book group discusses contemporary books, both fiction and non-fiction, led by Library Associate Rebecca Lowe. Copies of the book are available at the library. This month’s featured book is Did ‘Ye Hear Mammy Died? by Seamus O’Reilly.

Needleworkers at Night
Monday, September 23, 6pm
These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in. This group now meets every Monday in the cozy seating area on the first floor of the Library.

HYBRID DEI Book Group
Monday, September 23, 6:30pm
This group meets on the 4th Monday of the month. We read the book three chapters at a time to allow us to delve deeper into what we’re reading. The current featured title is The Deviant’s War by Eric Cervini. This meeting will cover chapters 9-14 (108 pages).

VIRTUAL Creative Writing Skills Group

Learn and apply creative writing tips, tools, and techniques shared by published authors and other writing experts. Open to all who want to improve their writing skills and get their work published. Led by local writing enthusiast Barbara Alevras. To register, email Adult Services Librarian Erin Driscoll at adultservices@wilmlibrary.org with the name of the event.

Hopothecary Ales Brewery Tour & Talk
Thursday, September 26, 6pm
Curious about the brewing process? Join us for a brewery tour and talk at Hopothecary Ales in North Reading. Then, stick around after the tour for some pretzels and conversation! Ages 21+

Needleworkers
Friday, September 27, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop in.

Youth Programs

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, September 23, 10am
The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join CTI for a community playgroup where we’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask CTI about any resources they can help provide for you and your family. The first playgroup of every month will focus on infants and toddlers. Ages 0-6, siblings welcome

Preschool Storytime

Banned Camp – Banned Books Art Making

Baby Time
Thursday, September 26, 10am
Join us at our Baby Time! This program includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Ages 0-23 months

Read to Stormy
Thursday, September 26, 4pm
Practice your reading skills with Therapy Dog, Stormy! Sign up for one 15-minute session per child or family. If you would like for more than one child to attend the 15-minute session together, please sign up one child and siblings and caregivers are welcome to join! Grades K-6

Sensory Discovery for Teens
Friday, September 27, 10:30am
Sensory Discovery is designed as an enrichment activity with fun games and crafts for neurodiverse teens! Ages 14-18

Teen DnD
Saturday, September 28, 2pm
Interested in finding out more about this fantasy tabletop role-playing game, or looking for a group to play with? This month’s session will be IN PERSON at the library. You may also participate on Discord, a private server. We use DnDBeyond to track and create our characters. Grades 6-12

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

Museum Passes
The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list on our website!

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.
