Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Senior Center:
WILMINGTON, MA — In 2020, the Wilmington School Committee and the Wilmington Board of Selectman authorized the Superintendent of Schools to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) Statement of Interest Applications for our six (6) elementary schools.
The Town’s School Building Committee (SBC) is currently doing due diligence and exploration of the existing conditions at the sites of the Wildwood School, Woburn Street, and North Intermediate School. The grade configurations of PreK-K (130 students plus PreK), PreK-3 (550 students plus PreK) and PreK-5 (755 students plus PreK) have been explored and analyzed with test fits, demographic studies, results from Visioning Sessions, and existing conditions reports. Eighteen conceptual designs were developed for the potential sites to include repair options, addition/ renovation options, and new construction options. The due diligence findings reduced the 18 conceptual options down to 9 design concepts that would be best suited for Wilmington’s youngest learners and moved into the current phase for further development. The SBC is narrowing the concepts down from 9 to the 1 Preferred Option to move forward into Schematic Design. The Preferred Option will go to a Town Meeting for Vote. If approved, the Preferred Option would go to ballot as a Debt Exclusion to increase taxes to fund the project.
