WILMINGTON, MA — Evelyn B. Sullivan (Shorey), age 83, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2024.

Evelyn was born in Somerville, MA, on September 25,1940; she was the cherished daughter of the late Milton and Beatrice (Riley) Shorey. Evelyn was one of five sisters who were raised and educated in Somerville.

Evelyn married “her sweetheart” Daniel “Sully” Sullivan in 1958; the couple lived in Somerville for several years before moving to Wilmington in 1970 where they bought their home on Silver Lake and raised their family. Evelyn’s family was always her priority; she was a very devoted to her husband, children, sisters, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn took every opportunity to spend time with her family and celebrate all their accomplishments and milestones; she was very proud of each of them.

Evelyn loved her home on the lake and her neighbors became extended family; Evelyn’s door was always open to family, friends, and her kids’ friends as well. She had an endearing personality, everyone who met her loved her and would most often end up calling her “Ma”.

Prior to retiring, Evelyn worked at the Compugraphic Company in Wilmington where she made many great friends throughout the years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, vacationing in Pennsylvania in the Amish Country, visiting family in Arizona and living there for several years, she looked forward to going to Fairs especially the Topsfield Fair, and loved to hang out with her sisters.

Evelyn will be fondly remembered for her love of animals, especially her family dogs, she had a “sweet tooth”, and competitive streak when it came to playing a board game or card game; she would not let you win and was known to cheat a time or two.

Evelyn was a “social butterfly” who made friends wherever she went; she was very kind and generous towards everyone she met. Evelyn was the “heart” of her family and she left countless memories for them to cherish. She will forever be missed by all who loved her.
