OBITUARY: Jean M. (Ostler) Twombly, 79

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Jean M. (Ostler) Twombly, age 79, a longtime resident of Wilmington, passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on August 30, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born in Cambridge, MA, on February 16, 1945; she was the cherished daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Moore) Ostler. She was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School with the class of 1963.

Jean married Thomas Twombly in 1966; the couple moved to Wilmington in 1971 where they raised three wonderful daughters. Jean loved her new home across from Silver Lake and fit right into her new community. Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother. She got a big kick out of each of her grandchildren claiming to be “the favorite.” She never missed a school or sporting event and looked forward to every opportunity to bring her family together. Jean thoroughly enjoyed every holiday from her talented decorating skills or her holiday “attire” she went all out and made celebrating fun. Jean loved to shop; she was very generous to others and so thoughtful when it came to giving gifts. Jean carefully chose items that she knew her family and friends would cherish; she made everything special.

Prior to retiring, Jean worked at Madico Inc in Woburn for 28 years. Jean loved her job and enjoyed working with her international customers as an Export Customer Service Rep. Jean loved her coworkers who in no time became her extended family. She was always willing to help them out especially with football pools.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed quilting and crafting or heading out to play the lottery and her daily numbers just to “try her luck”. Jean always did consider herself a lucky person; she was very grateful for her life, her family, her friends, and the opportunities she had throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady who was very kind to others; she was a social butterfly who made everyone feel loved and included. Jean showered her family and extended family with unconditional love; they were her world, and she will forever live on in their hearts.

Jean always said she was in touch with the other side so everyone should look forward to staying connected to her and watch for her signs.

Jean was the beloved wife of Thomas E. Twombly, devoted mother of Brenda Golden and her husband Michael of Windham, NH, Christine Twombly and her husband Richard Feindel of Plaistow, NH, and Jill Meuse of Windham, NH. Loving “Gram” of Taylor Banghart and fiancé Maxwell George, Connor Golden and partner Elizabeth Lahti, Fallon Golden and partner Patrick Titus, Benjamin Meuse and Eliza Meuse. Dear sister of the late Donald Ostler and the late Janet Brussard. She is further survived by her nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours on Thursday, September 5th from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. All are welcome to a Celebration of Jean’s life at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 6th at 10:00 a.m. followed by her interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
