WILMINGTON, MA — Joseph S. Malfa, fondly known as “Joe”, age 77, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on August 23, 2024, at Winchester Hospital.
Joe was born in Boston, MA, on January 16, 1947. He was the cherished son of the late Stephen J. Malfa and Anna C. (Benner) Malfa. As a young boy, Joe was raised in a loving family in Cambridge, before moving to Wilmington, where he made many friends.
In 1969, Joe married the “love of his life and best friend” Roberta Clary. The couple settled in Wilmington and welcomed their only child, Joseph Jr., in 1971. Joe and Roberta were thrilled to become parents and young Joey was their pride and joy.
Family was everything to Joe. He enjoyed spending time with his parents, who he was very close to. Joe and Roberta shared many wonderful times together. They welcomed in their daughter-in-law Michelle, and made countless memories before Roberta’s untimely passing in June of 1998. Joe was thrilled to become “Little Papa” to Erica and Stephen. He adored his grandchildren and was very proud of them.
Joe will be fondly remembered as a quiet and reserved guy who loved his family and friends with all his heart. He will forever be loved and missed.
Joe was the beloved husband of the late Roberta (Clary) Malfa, devoted father of Joseph S. Malfa, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Wilmington, loving “Little Papa” of Erica Malfa and Stephen Malfa, dear brother of Beverly Masone of Tewksbury, Sandra Morse of Wilmington, and Stephen Malfa, Jr. and his wife Paula of Tewksbury. He is also further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends gathered for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, August 28th from 10:00 a.m – 11:30 a.m followed by a Service to Celebrate Joseph’s life. Interment took place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
