LIBRARY NEWS: Wilmington Library Introduces Nathalie Harty As New Director

Nathalie Harty

Nathalie Harty joins the Wilmington Memorial Library staff as its new director effective September 4, 2024. She may be familiar to some as she served as Teen Librarian in Wilmington earlier in her career. Although Nathalie left Wilmington to pursue career opportunities elsewhere, she maintained a fondness for the town and the people and is excited to return in her new role. Nathalie brings a wealth of experience with her to Wilmington, and most recently served as the Head of Technical and Adult Services at the Ipswich Public Library.

Adult Programs

Needleworkers at Night
Monday, September 9, 6pm
These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in. This group now meets every Monday in the cozy seating area on the first floor of the Library.

Streaming Services and Other Alternatives to Cable
Monday, September 9, 6:30pm
Come join Technology Librarian Brad McKenna as he presents alternatives to cable such as Netflix and the library. While not all free, the alternatives will save you quite a bit of money every month.

Cookin’ the Books
Tuesday, September 10, 12pm
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you. Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online), register on the library events calendar and record your recipe. Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes! This month’s featured cookbook is Falastin by Sami Tamimi.

Enjoy making a craft while socializing with others! This craft group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 6pm. All craft supplies provided! This month’s featured craft is Felted Pickles!

Do Political Polls Matter?
Thursday, September 12, 6pm
Learn the ins and outs of political polling with Joshua Dyck, Director of the Center for Public Opinion at UMass Lowell.

Needleworkers
Friday, September 13, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop-in.

Wilmington Community Playgroup

The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join CTI for a community playgroup where we’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask CTI about any resources they can help provide for you and your family. The first playgroup of every month will focus on infants and toddlers. Ages 0-6, siblings welcome

Come make a fun craft with us! For Crafternoon this month, we’ll be customizing magnets for your locker or fridge! Grades 4-8

Music with Dara
Friday, September 13, 10:30am
With keyboard, felt board, finger puppets, and engaging visual props, Dara weaves songs (old and new favorites), fingerplays, rhythmic activities/simple instrument playing, and creative movement for a fun-filled musical 30-45 minute program. Lots of clapping, marching, singing, creative expression and FUN! Ages 2-5, siblings welcome

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

Museum Passes
The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list on our website!

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.
