REGISTER OF DEEDS RACE: State Attorney General Andrea Campbell Endorses Sokhary Chau

Below is a press release from the campaign of Sokhary Chau. Chau is running for the Middlesex North Register of Deeds, which covers Wilmington:

LOWELL, MA — Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell endorsed Lowell City Councilor and Former Mayor Sokhary Chau in his race to become Middlesex North’s next Register of Deeds.

“Sokhary’s dedication to service and vision for the communities he serves is second to none. I’m behind Sokhary because he puts all of himself into everything he does,” said Attorney General Cambell. “As Register, no one will work harder to protect homeowners and earn the trust of the communities the Registry serves. I’m proud to support Sokhary and am excited to see what he’ll accomplish.”

“Attorney General Campbell is a dynamic leader whose support means so much to me,” said Chau. “I’m honored to have her support and hope to have the opportunity to work with her as Register of Deeds to make the region a better place for everyone who calls it home.”

Campbell’s support of Chau comes after a series of high level endorsements, including Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and State Auditor Diana DiZoglio. Before entering the race for Register of Deeds, Chau served as a Lowell City Councilor and as the first Cambodian-American Mayor in United States History.

Chau’s platform includes leveraging his experience working with elected officials at all levels of government to secure increased funding for the Registry, instituting outreach programs and expanding the Registry’s presence in the communities it serves, and implementing new technology to enhance user accessibility and better safeguard homeowners’ sensitive information.

Attorney General Campbell was elected in 2022 after securing more than 62% of the vote. Prior to her tenure as Attorney General, Campbell served as a Boston City Councilor after being elected in 2015. She would later serve as the council’s president from 2018 to 2020.

The Middlesex North Registry has been run by Register Richard Howe Jr. since 1995 and serves the communities of Billerica, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Dracut, Dunstable, Lowell, Tewksbury, Tyngsborough, Westford, and Wilmington.

Voters can cast their ballot for Chau in this fall’s Democratic Primary on September 3, or cast an early ballot by mail or in-person by contacting their local election authority.
