WILMINGTON POLICE LOG for August 5, 2024: 16-Year-Old Arrested After Joy Ride

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Monday, August 5, 2024:
  • State Police responded to a car crashing into the woods on 93 South, prior to Exit 31. (12:49am)
  • Police came across a vehicle with its hazard lights on in the middle of the road on Lowell Street, near Little Sprouts Daycare. A possum was hurt in the road. A passerby brought it to an animal hospital. (1:19am)
  • Target’s loss prevention officer reported a shoplifting incident. Police was unable to locate vehicle, but would return to the station and contact the vehicle’s owner. (12:39pm)
  • A 16-year-old was arrested for Using A Motor Vehicle Without Authority, Negligent Operation Of A Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, Speeding, Operating A Motor Vehicle Without A License, Failure To Stop For Police, and Leave Scene Of Property Damage. Father reported his son took his vehicle without permission. Father was able to track his son. Police was able to locate the vehicle on the road. Vehicle crashed into a vehicle coming out of the Burger King parking lot on Lowell Street. The driver took off and was apprehended in front of Red Heat Tavern. (2:59pm)
  • A caller reported a drone was hovering near his second floor bedroom. Police checked area and was unable to locate. Incident may have been a misunderstanding. (9:05pm)
