Below is a press release from State Senator Barry Finegold’s Office:
BOSTON, MA — State Senator Barry Finegold and State Representative Robertson are pleased to announce that the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget has been signed by Governor Healey.
The $58 billion budget maintains fiscal responsibility while making critical investments in schools, healthcare, and transportation, with $105,000 in funding being allocated directly to community projects in Wilmington.
Secured by Senator Finegold and Representative Robertson, this budget funds projects in Wilmington including:
- $50,000 – Wilmington Police Search & Rescue Drone
- $25,000 – Wilmington National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Storm Water Compliance Assistance
- $30,000 – Repairs to the Wilmington Town Museum roof
“The FY25 budget is reflective of our state’s good values of balancing financial accountability with thoughtful investment,” said State Senator Barry Finegold (D-Andover). “This budget bolsters Massachusetts’ resilience by funding initiatives from education to natural disaster relief to community projects. I am grateful for the unwavering partnership from Representative Robertson and local officials who remain committed to securing resources for our community.”
The FY25 budget makes historic investments in our students, including free community college for all residents, an increase in minimum Chapter 70 aid from $30 to $104, and permanently establishing the COVID-era Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) grant program.
“This budget, like previous, contains critical support that ensures the financial well being of our municipalities – including our local earmarks,” said Representative Dave Robertson (D-Wilmington). “In addition to increased state aid around education and transportation, the earmarks will provide our first responders with upgraded rescue observation equipment, assist the town with fixing dated vital infrastructure, and will help preserve and improve our local museum. I know the community will make full use of these earmarks, and thank both Town Managers, Chief Cavanaugh and Desmond, and the Wilmington Historical Commission for working with myself and Senator FInegold to help secure these funds.”
This budget prioritizes healthcare by making record investments in MassHealth, in services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in nursing facility Medicaid rates. This budget also provides historic funding for Regional Transit Authorities across the state to establish fare-free services.
