Adult Programs

Needleworkers at Night
Monday, August 12, 6pm
These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! This group meets every Monday night in the cozy seating area on the first floor of the Library.

Fact Checking Resources
Monday, August 12, 6:30pm
Join Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, to learn about some fact checking resources the library has to help you better understand media bias.

Cookin’ the Books: Afternoon Tea
Tuesday, August 13, 3pm
Our Annual Tea Party Edition of Cookin’ The Books! Join us for a little twist on Cookin’ the Books with this potluck-style afternoon tea led by Circulation Librarian Lisa! Rather than working from one cookbook, this month we will have a variety of afternoon tea-themed cookbooks that you can choose from.

Craft & Chat
Wednesday, August 14, 6:30pm
Enjoy making a craft while socializing with others! This craft group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. All craft supplies provided. This month’s featured craft is a Felted Car Air Freshener.

Novel Ideas
Thursday, August 15, 6:30pm
Enjoy reading fiction? Join the library’s fiction book group led by Adult Services Librarian Erin Driscoll. Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the featured book. This month’s featured book is Tom Lake by Ann Patchett.

Needleworkers
Friday, August 16, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop-in.

After Hours: Line Dancing in the Library Lot
Friday, August 16, 6pm
Break out your boots and come dance with us! Never line danced before? Join Instructor Julie Kaufmann for an introductory lesson at 6pm. Already a pro? The DJ set will start at 7pm.

VIRTUAL Poetry Circle
Saturday, August 17, 9:15am
Do you enjoy writing poetry? Want input on your work? If so, this group is for you. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras. If you are interested in attending this event, please email Adult Services Librarian Erin Driscoll at adultservices@wilmlibrary.org.

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, August 12, 10am
The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join CTI for a community playgroup where we’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask CTI about any resources they can help provide for you and your family. The first playgroup of every month will focus on infants and toddlers. Ages 0-6, siblings welcome

Music with Dara: Let’s Go On a Picnic
Wednesday, August 14, 10am
Come enjoy a special sing song event with our friend, Dara! This special Music with Dara program will include a story or two mixed in with an assortment of songs centering around picnics and food! Ages 2-5, siblings welcome

Lil’ Bookworms
Wednesday, August 14, 4pm
A book club for students in Kindergarten through Grade 2. Children will enjoy a variety of books while practicing reading and comprehension skills. Each session will end with time to socialize during a craft or activity! Grades K-2

Manga Tryouts
Thursday, August 15, 3:30pm
Have a say in manga purchased for the teen collection with this new club! During each meeting, we’ll sample 1st volumes of different manga, and vote on whether it should be added to WML’s collection. Grades 6-12

Exploration Station
Friday, August 16, 11am
Come enjoy this hands-on science exploration with fun fine motor skills activities! Ages 2-5, siblings welcome

Switch It Up! Video Game Club
Friday, August 16, 3:30pm
Love video games? Come to this once-a-month video game club to play Switch games with friends! Grades 1-5

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

Museum Passes
The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list on our website!

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.

Register now for Cookin’ the Books: Afternoon Tea on Tuesday, August 13th at 3pm! Make a recipe from one of the selected cookbooks and share it with others!
