BUTTERS ROW BRIDGE UPDATE: Current Bridge To Close In September 2024, Get Demolished In May 2025

Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Department of Public Works:

WILMINGTON, MA — Please be advised that the Town of Wilmington received notification from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) that the replacement of the Butters Row Bridge is currently underway. This $15.6M project is being funded and managed by MassDOT; MAS Building and Bridge, Inc (MAS) is MassDOT’s contractor. The project is expected to be a multi-year project, including overhead wire relocation, underground conduit work (at the railroad track level), existing bridge demolition, new bridge construction, utility work, roadway work, and permanent overhead wire installation.

MassDOT recently provided the Town with an updated schedule for the project (see below). Please note that these dates and construction tasks are tentative and are subject to change as construction progresses:

Butters Row Bridge Update

Residents will have access to their properties throughout construction, although there will be short delays and/or detours to accommodate workers and public safety.

To keep the Public updated on any changes to the anticipated schedule and future traffic impacts, The Town will be posting updates to the Department of Public Works (DPW’s) website under “News and Announcements”; located here for convenience: https://www.wilmingtonma.gov/public-works.

Electronic copies of the plan are available in the Wilmington DPW Engineering Division office located at 121 Glen Road (Wilmington Town Hall) and can be provided upon request by calling 978-658-4499.

Should there be any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the bridge replacement project, or the schedule provided above, please do not hesitate to contact the Engineering Division at 978-658-4499 or the Wilmington DPW administration office at 978-658-4481.
