OBITUARY: John Leo Sullivan, 63

WILMINGTON, MA — John Leo Sullivan, age 63, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on July 11, 2024.

John was born on September 21, 1960, in Cambridge, MA; he was raised and educated in Somerville.

Following high school, John started his life-long career as a glazier, both in the union and running his own glass company.

John married Cheryl (Rego) Sullivan and they settled in Wilmington, where they raised their four children: Ashley, Derek, Christie, and Jenna. John was a loving dad who enjoyed coaching his son’s hockey team in Wilmington. He was an excellent music man for Cheryl’s dance studio and loved watching his daughters dance on stage. The family took many trips to the Cape during the summer and spent their days enjoying Craigville Beach.

John was a Boston sports fan; he loved watching the Bruins and he looked forward to watching Patriots games with his family on Sundays.

John will be remembered for his love of his grandchildren. He was so proud when he became “Grampy.” He looked forward to family gatherings and always had a smile when surrounded by the ones he loved.

John was the devoted father of Ashley LeBlanc & her husband Scott of Pelham, NH, Derek Sullivan & his fiancée Cortney Brickley of Derry, NH Christie Lutz & her husband Clinton of North Reading, and Jenna Garrity & her husband Cameron of Wilmington, loving “Grampy” of Nora, Mia, Tristan, Brynn, and William, son of the late Timothy E. and Rosemary (Lothian) Sullivan, dear brother of Michael Sullivan & his wife Janet, Timothy Sullivan, the late Terry Ouellette, and the late Deidre Doyle & her husband Tom, Michael Polito, Carol Minchello, Mary Hinckley, and the late Dorothy Polito. John is also survived by his former spouse and friend, Cheryl Sullivan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, July 15th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in John’s name may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
