Below is a press release from Cota Funeral Homes:
PEABODY, MA — Barbara L. (Stanley) Sica, age 77, of Peabody, formerly a long-time resident of Saugus, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, with her loving family at her side.
Barbara was born on December 3, 1946, in Everett, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas & Nellie Stanley, Jr. Barbara was raised and educated in Saugus, MA, and was a graduate of Saugus High School.
After meeting at Melody Ranch Music Shop in Wakefield and quickly realizing they both had a love of music, Barbara married Joe Sica in 1966; the couple made their home in Saugus, MA, where they raised their family and then moved to Peabody in 1997. Barbara always showered her family and friends with unconditional love and devotion.
She loved vacationing on Cape Cod and in New Hampshire; she fully enjoyed family gatherings and was always up for a ‘good car ride’.
Barbara looked forward to family celebrations and holidays with Christmas being her all-time favorite; she took pleasure in decorating the house, spoiling her children and then grandchildren watching the excitement as they all waited for Santa to arrive. Barbara also enjoyed taking time to relax and watch the Hallmark Christmas movie channel.
Barbara’s role as daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt were all very important to her but when she became “Nana” to first her granddaughter and then her two grandsons her world became even brighter followed by two great grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. Barbara treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, cuddling, spoiling, laughing, just having fun, and of course baking her famous fudge brownies, chocolate chip cookies and delicious apple pie for celebrations and holidays.
She will be fondly remembered as a very special lady who had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. She was kind, caring, giving, generous, and loyal to everyone she met. Barbara was a true friend who will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Sica, Jr, devoted mother of Steven J. Sica and his wife Barbara of Wilmington, and Scott T. Sica and his fiancé, Lisa Rich of Lynn. She was the loving “Nana” of Taylor, Robert and Thomas and great-grandmother to Jayla and Jared. Dear sister of Thomas Stanley, III and his wife Sandra of North Reading. Barbara is further survived by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and beloved friends including Anne Marie Fecteau of Wilmington who will always be her ‘sister’.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28), at the Reading Line, on Tuesday, June 25th from 10:00AM to 12:00PM with a service beginning at 12:00PM followed by interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA.
