Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — William David Falter, Sr., “Bill,” age 79, of Wilmington, formerly of Somerville, passed away on May 30, 2024.

Bill was born on December 24, 1944, in Boston, MA; he was the cherished son of the late John and Helen (Harwood) Falter. Bill was raised in Cambridge and later moved to Somerville.

Bill married Frances E. (Sheehan) Falter and the couple settled in Somerville, where they raised their four children, Kimberley, Bill, Jr., Debbie, and Brenda. Family was most important to Bill, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When the family got together, they looked forward to listening to music, dancing, and joking around. Bill loved to crack jokes and watch the kids laugh and play.

Bill moved to Wilmington over twenty-six years ago. He worked for the Town of Wilmington.

Bill was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Bruins, and the Boston Celtics with his family. Bill attended all the games his children and grandchildren played in. He was the kids’ #1 fan and #1 critic. They could count on Bill to be at hockey, football, and baseball games, as well as the annual dance recitals for his granddaughters.

Bill had a passion for cars; he was so proud of the Corvette and Cadillac he once owned. He enjoyed taking his short rides around town visiting his local stores and listening to his “oldies” music while enjoying his day.

Bill will be remembered as having a great personality and loved to make people feel special. He never forgot a single birthday card for anyone of his four children, eleven grandchildren, or his nine great grandchildren. Bill was proud of the family he created and always put his family first. Each member of Bill’s family knew how much they were loved.
