BUSINESS BRIEF: Wilmington’s Liberty Defense Receives Contract For Multiple HEXWAVE’s From Manchester-Boston Regional Airport

Below is a press release from Wilmington-based Liberty Defense:

WILMINGTON, MA — Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd., a leading technology provider of AI-based next generation detection solutions for concealed weapons and threats, is pleased to announce that its HEXWAVE system was selected by Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to deploy the HEXWAVE to meet the TSA’s National Amendment for Aviation Worker Security Screening.

Strategically situated in the heart of New England, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is located less than fifty miles north of Boston, Massachusetts, and less than an hour’s drive from the region’s most popular ski areas, scenic seacoast beaches and peaceful lakefront resorts. MHT is the premier aviation gateway for the region and was recently named #1 Best Domestic Airport in the country by Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2023.

With the recent release of the TSA mandate to implement screening for aviation workers, airports will need technologies that provide a broad range of threat detection that can meet the current screening requirements and those mandated for the future.

“As industry leaders, we are excited to acquire the HEXWAVE system to use in our broader airport security program,” said MHT Airport Director Ted Kitchens, A.A.E. “The portability of the HEXWAVE solution will provide enhanced security in non-traditional areas of the airport. We are excited to work with Liberty Defense, as we are continually looking to innovate and improve the overall safety of our airport.”

Unlike weapon detection technology, HEXWAVE uses millimeter wave, advanced 3D imaging and AI to detect all types of concealed metallic and non-metallic threats and other prohibited items – without the passenger having to divest common items. The system allows for rapid, automated screening using a high-throughput, contactless, walkthrough portal to detect liquid, powder and plastic explosives, 3D printed ghost guns and other threats of concern today that enhanced metal detectors on the market cannot detect.

“We are thrilled that MHT has selected Liberty Defense and the HEXWAVE as the screening solution for the Aviation Worker Program,” said Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense. “The flexibility and portability of the HEXWAVE allows the Airport to quickly deploy and move the HEXWAVE to help meet security screening requirements to areas inside the Airport. We are thrilled to work with them on their continued aviation industry innovation.”
