OBITUARY: Susan J. (King) Knapp, 66

Below is an obituary from Peaslee Alton Funeral Home:

ALTON, NH — Susan J. Knapp (King) of Alton Bay, NH passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2024.

Born in Wilmington MA on March 22, 1958, Susan was the proud “Farmers Daughter” of Albert King and Joan King (Desmond) of Raymond NH.

Susan lived most of her life in Raymond NH, proudly on her family’s farm. Susan loved telling everyone she met that she was 1 of 9 siblings and sharing stories about growing up in such a large family. Fiercely loyal to those she loved each of her siblings held a special spot in her heart.

Susan especially loved spending time and chatting with her “Sissy’s” Carol, Sharon and Janet. From planning family functions and parties over the years to more recently early morning chit-chats and gossip sessions over the phone, she lit up whenever she spoke to them.

Susan had a deep love of her Boston Sports teams and would never turn down a chance to spend time with her brothers cheering on with them during a Patriots game or yelling at the TV right beside them during a Red Sox game.

Susan was also an amazing mother to her daughter Katie Knapp of Alton Bay NH. Susan made sure to instill a love of music and live concerts into Katie at a young age. Susan loved having the radio cranked up no matter if she was in her car driving around or at home just relaxing outside. No matter what was happening over the years, Susan would drop anything and everything if Katie called needing something, even just being an ear to bend or shoulder to cry on. Susan also shared her love of baking and cooking with Katie and they enjoyed swapping recipes and working as a team in the kitchen, even if that meant Katie doing the cooking while Susan gave direction and did the “clean up.”

Susan was able to spend this last year being the happiest “Boy Mum” to her Son In Law, Chukwuemeka Izuorgu (Zee). She couldn’t wait to watch a Celtics game with Zee and argue over his love for Lebron James. Zee also taught Susan about the UFC and every Saturday night she could be heard asking if there was a fight on. Susan enjoyed learning about African cooking and trying the different foods, especially the baked goods.

Friendship was extremely important to Susan, and she was able to make new friends wherever she was. She was constantly talking about different people she knew and celebrating birthdays and holidays for them all. As friends come and go there were a few that meant the absolute world to Susan:

Her longtime High School friend Cristal Vahey of Fremont NH, Susan spoke often of their many adventures over the years together and was always excited for holidays so they could exchange gifts.

Karen Regan of Brentwood NH always made Susan feel so special and she couldn’t wait to be able to meet up with Karen on one of their many lunch dates or a night of playing Yahtzee.

Vanessa Bowman of Alton Bay NH, who she looked at as a second daughter having known Vanessa for most of her life. She was always happy to cheer for Vanessa in whatever endeavor she was on and give her motherly advice when needed.

If Susan wasn’t in the kitchen baking, spending time with her friends, taking care of her Grand-Dogs and her “Girls” Katie and Vanessa you could find Susan gushing over her nieces and nephews. Young and Old they all were extremely important to Susan and very loved. She always wanted to pick out the perfect gift for them and make sure they knew how much they meant to her. Recently she became “Pen-Pals” with her Great-Nephew Austin and could not wait to get a drawing and a note he would send her so she could proudly display them on her fridge. She was so excited to meet the newest member of her family – Great Grandniece Callie.

Susan is survived by her Daughter Katie Knapp, Son in Law Chukwuemeka Izuorgu (Zee) of Alton Bay NH. Vanessa Bowman, her self-proclaimed 2nd daughter also of Alton Bay NH.

Grand Dogs – Cricket and Goose

Lastly, James Knapp of Newport NH – Father of her daughter Katie.

Susan is predeceased by her parents Albert and Joan King and her brother Richard King of NH.

Susan loved to joke with Katie, Zee and Vanessa that we would miss her when she was gone, and truer words could not have been spoken.

A private cremation is scheduled for Susan and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
