Below is a letter from the Wilmington PAWS Group:
Thank you to MJ Byrnes for her years of dedicated service to the Town of Wilmington. After serving for 12 years and being elected four times, MJ completed her final meeting as a School Committee member last week.
Many will never truly understand it, but if you have had a student attend a Wilmington school at any point in the last 12 years MJ has had a positive impact on that child and your family. In her years on the Committee she has proven to be a vocal advocate for the students, educators, and the community of Wilmington. Always willing to step into roles on subcommittees, always willing to have a conversation with a parent/guardian, and always there for our children.
Among many of her accomplishments MJ has been instrumental in the work to grow and improve Wilmington’s special education and social emotional learning programs. She has tirelessly worked behind the scenes to make sure she is always prepared for discussions on these topics and has always come to meetings with perspective, knowledge, and ideas. MJ has come to every meeting with an unmatched enthusiasm, ready to selflessly serve our children and our community. Wilmington has been made a better place because of the work she has done.
We want to express sincere gratitude and our most heartfelt thanks to MJ Byrnes for all her years of service to the Wilmington community.
