WILMINGTON, MA — Read the April 2024 newsletter for the Wilmington Senior Center Building Project, published by P3, the project’s OPM firm.
To the Residents of Wilmington,
We are excited to bring you the latest update on the progress of our beloved Wilmington Senior Center! The construction team has been hard at work, and we have some significant developments to share with you.
Wood Framing and Structural Steel Framing
This month, our focus has been on the wood framing and structural steel framing of the Wilmington Senior Center. These foundational elements are essential for ensuring the stability and longevity of our future community hub. The meticulous craftsmanship and dedication of the construction team have been evident in every beam and truss installed, laying the groundwork for a structure that will serve our community for generations to come.
Upcoming Milestone: Wood Trusses
We are pleased to announce that wood trusses are expected to be installed later this month. These trusses will not only contribute to the structural integrity of the building but will also add a touch of architectural beauty to our center. Their installation marks another step forward in the realization of our vision for a vibrant and welcoming space for Wilmington seniors.
Collaborative Efforts
None of this progress would be possible without the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team. Led by our Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) and supported by the construction team and building committee, significant strides have been made in bringing our vision to life. The recent public meeting on April 17th provided an opportunity for community members to engage with the project and offer valuable input.
Architect’s Presentation
During the public meeting on April 17th, the Architect presented their plans, allowing the Building Committee to make informed decisions regarding interior finishes, color selections, and quality assurance. This presentation was a crucial step in ensuring that every aspect of our new center reflects the needs and preferences of our community.
As we continue to move forward with the construction of the Wilmington Senior Center, we are grateful for the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our community members. Your contributions, whether through participation in meetings, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, are invaluable in shaping the future of our center.
