Free Childcare To Be Provided At May 4 Annual Town Meeting; Town Moderator Invites Residents To “Office Hours” To Get Questions Answered

Below is a message from Wilmington Town Moderator Jonathan Eaton:

Dear Wilmington Residents:

There can be any number of obstacles that make attending an annual town meeting difficult: the length of the meeting, conflicts with other commitments, and the desire to spend one of the first really nice Saturdays somewhere other than inside the high school auditorium, to name a few.

For two common obstacles, we are proactively trying to make engaging in your town government easier.

First, as we have for the past few years, and in partnership with the school department, we are offering free child care. Between 9am and 2pm, for children ranging in ages from Pre-K through 6th grade, we are offering free child care on a first come, first served basis. To sign up, please complete the registration form here by 5pm on Wednesday, May 1.

Second, to try and provide a forum for residents who might have questions on the procedure of town meeting, or would like to have a better understanding of what to expect, I will be offering four “office hours” to answer any questions you might have. Three will be virtual, on Zoom, and one will be in the small conference room at Town Hall, just to the right as you walk through the front door.

Lastly, the Town Clerk’s Office has built up the town meeting page as a central repository of information for voters in advance of the meeting.

As always, if you have any questions in advance of our annual town meeting at 9am on Saturday, May 4, please feel welcome to contact me at moderator@wilmingtonma.gov.

Respectfully,
Jonathan R. Eaton
Town Moderator
