WILMINGTON, MA — Dominic L. Paparo, age 86, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on March 25, 2024, at the Sawtelle Hospice House, following a brief illness.
Dominic was the beloved husband of fifty-eight years of Jacqueline (Wastaferro) Paparo, always a great father to daughter Karen (Paparo) McDonald & her husband Charles McDonald and Donna (Paparo) Snow. He leaves behind his grandsons Michael Dominic Adam and Noah Robert Snow and his great-granddaughter, Karmen Gail Adam.
Dominic was born in Somerville on March 7, 1938; he was the son of the late Attilio and Betina (Gimigliano) Paparo. Dominic was raised in Somerville along with his sister, Mary (Paparo) Geer. He graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1955. Dominic spent most of his adult life raising his family in Wilmington before relocating to Tewksbury.
Dominic retired from the New England Telephone Company after approximately forty years. He also honored his country, serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961.
In his younger years, Dominic enjoyed biking, hunting, fishing, teaching at the Cambridge Caballeros drum corps, Square Dancing, and traveling. He donated his elk antler mount from his hunting trip in Wyoming to the Elks Club in Tewksbury, where he was a life-long member. Dominic enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas; his favorite place to stay was the Flamingo and Bugsy’s Bar was the common meeting place for friends and family.
Dominic’s friends know him for his infectious smile; he and Jacqueline could be found at their favorite local restaurants including Jon Ryan’s Pub, Tremezzo’s, Kitty’s, and Rocco’s, where he made many friends with both patrons and staff. Dominic’s sense of humor was enjoyed by all.
Family and friends gathered for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, March 28th from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dominic’s name may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA 01867.
