WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Select Board recently closed and signed the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 9am inside the Wilmington High School’s Auditorium.
The warrant consists of 36 articles, including 4 petitioned articles. Highlights include:
- Article 5 — approving the town’s FY25 budget
- Article 6 — approving funds for various capital equipment, including a replacement ambulance, a replacement handicap accessible van for the Senior Center, a replacement handicap accessible minivan for the school system, and vehicles and equipment for the Public Works and Pubic Building departments.
- Article 14 — approving funds for a feasibility study for improvements made to the Textron fields and courts, which the town recently began to lease.
- Article 15 — approving funds for a feasibility study and schematic design to locate fire substation in North Wilmington
- Article 17 — approving funds for maintenance at the Wilmington Police Department firing range
- Articles 21-24 — approving funds for technology improvements across the school system, including replacement of classroom projectors at High School (#21), replacement of network switches at High School (#22), replacement and upgrade of wireless access points at High School (#23), and replacement and upgrade of Chromebooks at multiple schools.
- Article 29 — approving Green Meadow Drive as an accepted public way (no other unaccepted ways are on the warrant)
- Article 30 — amending the Zoning Bylaw and Zoning Map of Wilmington to create a new MBTA Community Multi-Family Overlay District. This is the article that is likely to generate the most interest from residents. Learn more HERE.
- Article 31 — approving a Stabilization Fund for the Shawsheen Tech
- Article 36 — renaming the Woburn Street School as the Richardson Elementary School

All of these articles will be discussed at the Joint Public Hearing of the Wilmington Finance Committee and Wilmington Planning Board on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 7pm in the Town Hall Auditorium. The meeting will be televised live on WCTV and wctv.org.
