WILMINGTON, MA — ALETHA “LETHE” (MARTIN) RANDALL, of Wilmington, died peacefully, March 5th at the age of eighty-three. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to James Randall.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Belmont, Lethe was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Terrasi) Martin. She was a graduate of Belmont High School and attended Boston University. Throughout her life, Lethe worked as a self-employed bookkeeper, for various companies in the area.
Aletha married the love of her life James, and together enjoyed many adventures. Their union was, and remains, one of unwavering commitment, deep connection, and profound love, genuinely enjoying their time together. They were avid sailors, exploring Boston Harbor for many years and traveled the North Shore. They loved being outdoors and camping, particularly on Cape Cod, and also enjoyed the finer things in life, especially trying new restaurants.
Lethe was a deeply spiritual woman of God and a very gentle, wise soul. She was a longtime and active member of St. Charles Church and served as a eucharistic minister, brining communion, and visiting those in nursing homes. She held a strong sense of duty and responsibility to oneself and to others.
She will be remembered as a proud, generous and faithful women, who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband James, Aletha is survived by her siblings, Joseph Martin of North Carolina, and Christine Barraford, her husband Jerome of North Reading. Treasured aunt of Ashleigh, Drew, Chad, Jared, and Hilary, and her niece and caretaker, Therese Griffen and her husband Dennis.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 9th in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, MA at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends were invited to a calling hour prior to the Mass from 9-9:45 a.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801. Remembrances may be made in Lethe’s memory to St. Charles Church.
