WOBURN, MA — Karen M. (Atkinson) Boyce, 78, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family at her cherished home.
Born in Buffalo, NY, on December 31, 1945, Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Russel H. and Mildred J. (Korn) Atkinson. A woman of unwavering dedication, she spent her professional years as an assistant manager for TJ Maxx in Wilmington MA, leaving an indelible mark until her well-deserved retirement.
Karen’s spirit was deeply intertwined with the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn, MA, where her vibrant involvement and genuine kindness left an enduring impact. Her altruistic nature extended to the Lowell Food Pantry, where she tirelessly contributed to the well-being of her community. Beyond her philanthropic endeavors, Karen found solace and joy in tending to her beloved flower and vegetable gardens, cultivating beauty and tranquility with each bloom and spending time with her dog Cooper.
Left to cherish her memory is her adoring son, Paul DiBartolomeo, and his wife, Paula, of Stoneham, MA; a supportive constellation of siblings, including Gale Kobee of Lavon, TX, Donna Atkinson of Elgin, IL, Jane Pieper of St. Charles, IL, Susan Atkinson of St. Charles, MO, Michelle Ireson of North Carolina, and Russel Atkinson of Cheektowega, NY. Karen is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Joseph and Michael DiBartolomeo of Stoneham, MA and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Jill Atkinson, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Karen’s life at her funeral service, which was held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 60 Forest Park Road, Woburn, MA. Burial was private, reflective moment for those closest to Karen.
