Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Edward F. Ward, “Ed or Eddie”, age 69, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2024.
Ed was born in Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland on June 29, 1954; he was the cherished son of Priscilla R. (Palmer) Ward and the late Fredrick H. Ward of Wilmington, MA. Ed was one of 4 siblings that were raised on or around Silver Lake. Ed attended Wilmington Public Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1972.
Ed loved to box and boxed for the Golden Gloves. After graduating from High School, he owned and operated Ward Fence. He went on to drive his own tractor trailer and eventually drove for Fanny Farmers (he loved his chocolate). In later years, Ed worked for Union Local #88 as a welder (The Big Dig).
Ed could pretty much do anything he set out to do. He loved to joke around a lot to get a rise out of people. He was very proud of always having the American Flag flying high on the lake. He loved the lake, boating, fishing, going out on his famous raft and just having a good time.
Ed will be remembered for his love for family. He did some traveling back and forth from Florida but loved to be in his hometown seeing the flag on the lake.
Ed was the dear brother of the late James I. Ward and Meredith Ward of Wilmington, David T. Ward & wife Valerie A. Ward of Wilmington and Uncle to their children James and Delaney Ward.
Ed has two children and has remained close friends with their mother Mary (Cote) Peters. Deana Ward & wife Lynn Shortway of New York, Kenneth Ward & wife Nicole Ward from Wilmington. Loving grandfather to Jay, Desi, Dylan, and Rylee.
Ed is further survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, March 11th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
