OBITUARY: Marion I. Baker, 93

WILMINGTON, MA — Marion Stevenson Baker, 93, of Wilmington, MA, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at AdviniaCare in Wilmington, MA.

She was born on September 18, 1930, to Edward and Gladys (Morsehead) Stevenson in Everett, MA. Marion later moved to North Reading, where she raised her family for many years. After deciding to move to New Hampshire, she fell in love with Windham, where she remained for 27 years before moving to Hampstead NH with her daughter Amylynne Baker-Santagate and daughters for an additional 9 years. Marion lived in Virginia for a period of time to be near her son Lee and his family. While there, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made many friends where she lived in Virginia and will be long remembered by them. She was able to see her sister and nieces Patty and Nancy as well. She chose to spend her final years back in her beloved New England with her “Northern Family”.

In her youth, Marion was known to be extremely gifted with a sewing machine and enjoyed making clothing for those she loved. As the years went on, she remained very active in class reunions and enjoyed keeping in contact with her friends. She was known as “Hallmark’s Best Customer” by all who knew her, and she never forgot a birthday. Marion was a devoted friend to all whom she met, despite time spent apart.

She is survived by her children, Susan and Nelson Murray, Arthur “Lee” III and Debbie Baker, Clifford and Denice Baker, and Amylynne Baker-Santagate; her grandchildren, Scott Conrad, Abby and Sean Murray, Erich and Kristen Baker, Rachel Fadley, Diana and Colin Crowley, Rebecca Baker and Kevin Saunders, Callie Baker and Trey Blowe, Bradford Baker and Heather Moore, Shannon and Erik Jenson, Beth and Victor Furtado, Meghan and Joseph Lawlor, Shealyn Santagate and Derek Valliere, Jaquelyn Santagate; her great-grandchildren, Gianna Conrad, Jade and Dillon Baker, Jacob Hipp, Chase, Haylee and Brayden Fadley, Quinn and Jupiter Blowe, Sierra, Macsen and Bradford Jr., Kyra and Lorelei Jensen, Brent, Bruce and Gwen Furtado; great-great children Anya and Harper. Patty, Nancy, and many other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by the love of her life, Arthur Leon Baker Jr.; her siblings, Edward, Norma, Phyllis, and Marillyn; and grandson, Joseph Fadley.

At the family’s request, Marion’s services will remain private.
