Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Linda J. Cardello (Cavallo), age 74, of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2024, at the Winchester Hospital.
Linda was born and raised in Medford, MA; she was the cherished only daughter to the late Rudolph “Rudy” and Helen Cavallo. Linda was part of a large and loving Italian/Portuguese family; she was a great help to her mom, and she was taught the importance of family; a trait she would carry throughout her life. Linda attended Medford public schools where she made many life-long friends and was a graduate of Medford High School.
Linda married her “sweetheart” Paul Cardello on June 4, 1972; the couple lived in the city for a few years before moving “up country” to Wilmington where they raised two wonderful children; Gregory and Kimberly. Linda’s door was always open to family, friends, and neighbors; she was like a second mother to many of her children’s friends, and a source of comfort and stability to many. Linda looked forward to big family holidays and vacations; she loved to have everyone together to share a meal and have a good time.
Family was Linda’s number one priority; she showered her children with unconditional love, devotion, and she encouraged them to follow their dreams and keep true to themselves. Linda was at every school or sporting event that her children were involved in; she was their number one cheerleader. When Linda became a “Grammy” her world became even brighter; she adored her grandchildren and looked forward to her visits to Arizona to visit Tyler and Isabella and loved her time with LilyRose, especially making meatballs out of play dough, coloring pictures of Snoopy, and making pizzelles at Christmas. Linda was very passionate about following Tyler’s basketball games and Isabella’s volleyball games; she NEVER missed an opportunity to “dial in” on facetime or zoom making every game to root them on. Linda’s loving relationship with her daughter-in-law Michelle Cardello and son-in-law Gregg Griffin was very evident; she welcomed them with open arms. Linda and Michelle would often spend long hours talking about life, family, and kids. Similarly, Linda shared a special bond with Gregg, and they too had countless conversations, particularly during the times when Linda was watching LilyRose. Linda’s loved her brothers Michael and Rudy; they shared a special bond and were best of friends. Linda talked to them nearly every day and they would spend a lot of time together chatting and laughing. Linda was truly the matriarch of the family she opened her home and heart to everyone; she listened to their problems, offered advice, she was never judgmental and her compassion and kindness towards her family and friends was unwavering.
Linda’s talents were endless, she was an amazing crafter, artist, and designer. Linda made gorgeous wreaths for family and friends, but she also made countless wreaths to be donated for charitable events. Linda was behind the creative designs for “I Pods for Wounded Veteran’s” and was instrumental in helping her husband and other Veteran’s with various fundraisers. Linda was constantly giving of her time and talents for many community events; she greeted you with her warm smile, endearing personality and was always there to lend a hand for whatever needed to be done.
Linda was a woman of strong faith and would rely on that faith to get her through some of the challenging times that life throws at us. She was also full of great wisdom and was a constant source of support, love, and guidance. Linda’s advice to others would be to: “stay true to yourself”, “don’t let others persuade you to compromise your beliefs”, “work hard”, “trust your gut”, “be kind”, “help others”, “love your family”, and most of all “follow your heart”.
Linda will be fondly remembered as a beautiful lady inside and out; she loved her family, friends, and neighbors with all her heart. Although her sudden passing has left many people shocked and saddened the imprint of her beautiful soul will live on through those who knew and loved her.
Linda was the beloved wife of Paul Cardello, devoted mother of Gregory Cardello & wife Michelle of Fountain Hills, AZ and Kimberly Griffin & husband Gregg of Chelmsford, MA. Loving “Grammy” of Tyler & Isabella Cardello and LilyRose Griffin, cherished daughter of the late Rudolph and Helen (Silva) Cavallo, dear sister of Rudolph Cavallo, Jr. & wife Marilyn of North Conway, NH and Michael Cavallo & wife Christine of Stoneham, MA. Daughter-in-law of the late Samuel & Sarah Cardello, sister-in-law of Louis & Diane Cardello of Salem, NH and the late Lucille D’Agostino. Linda is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
