WILMINGTON POLICE LOG for February 9, 2024: 20-Year-Old Man Arrested For Assault & Battery On Senior Citizen

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Friday, February 9, 2024:
  • Police spoke with driver of a pick-up carrier stopped in the travel lane on Main Street, in front of the Hyundai dealership. The driver was picking up one vehicle. Police advised him. (10:03am)
  • A Nichols Street reported his mailbox was struck on Wednesday. (11:29am)
  • Police notified contractor that a sink hole was forming at the intersection of Lowell Street and Woburn Street. (11:39am)
  • Employee at Wonder Years on Lowell Street reported a man came to their door, ringing the door bell and knocking. Employee thought he was acting strangely. He said he enjoyed playing with kids and wanted to know how to get a job there. He was a black male, dressed in all black, missing several teeth. He left the area on foot. Police were unable to locate. (2:19pm)
  • A 3-vehicle crash occurred at Main Street and Oakwood Road. One driver was cited for a hands free violation. Two vehicles towed. No injuries. (5:44pm)
  • A car struck a pedestrian at Main Street and Lake Street. Fire Department transported one party. (5:55pm)
  • Mayflower Detox reported a patient walked away from the facility after being administratively discharged. (6:30pm)
  • Police responded to a shoplifting incident at Richdale. A can of Red Bull was taken. The description fits that of the man who left Mayflower Detox earlier. Police searched the area and were unable to locate the man. A summons was issued for shoplifting. (7:09pm)
  • Man called to state he was released from Maflower Detox and was not given his items back. Police transported him back to the Detox lobby. Police also stopped at Richdale to make the cashier whole. (8:00pm)
  • Dexter Deschenes Cayer (20, Ipswich) was arrested for Assault & Battery on an Individual over 60 (x2) and Resisting Arrest. Police responded to a disturbance at Shriners Auditorium. (10:45pm)
