NEW SENIOR CENTER: Read The Latest Newsletter For The Senior Center Building Project

WILMINGTON, MA — Read the January 2024 newsletter for the Wilmington Senior Center Building Project, published by P3, the project’s OPM firm.

To the Residents of Wilmington,

We are excited to bring you the latest update on construction activities at there new Senior Center located on Main Street.

We hope this newsletter finds you well as we bring you another exciting update on the progress of our community’s upcoming development project. The construction team has been hard at work, and we’re thrilled to share the latest accomplishments and upcoming milestones.

Work Completed to Date:

Initial Site Preparation:

The project kicked off with the meticulous task of tree clearing, stump removal, and the careful stripping and stockpiling of topsoil. This crucial step sets the foundation for the subsequent phases of construction.

Site Security & Erosion Control:

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, a temporary perimeter fence has been installed, accompanied by the implementation of a “silt sock” to control erosion. These measures not only protect the construction site but also preserve the integrity of the surrounding environment.

Binder Pavement:

To facilitate safe winter access and provide a housekeeping advantage, binder pavement has been laid. This not only enhances the overall accessibility of the construction site but also contributes to a clean and organized working environment.

Commenced Excavation for Foundations:

Moving into the heart of the construction process, excavation for foundations has begun. This crucial step is laying the groundwork for the sturdy foundations that will support the structures of our community.

Concrete Foundations Complete:

We are pleased to announce that the concrete foundations for the Wilmington Senior Center have been successfully completed. This significant milestone marks a crucial step forward in the construction process, laying the solid groundwork for the future of our community space.

Oversized Boulders Removed:

Our dedicated construction team encountered oversized boulders. We are delighted to report that all obstacles have been successfully addressed. The boulders have been expertly broken up and responsibly hauled off-site, ensuring a safe and secure environment for our future facility.

Work Ongoing Next Month:

Underslab MEP Work Underway:

The next phase of construction has commenced with the initiation of underslab MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) work. Our skilled contractors are working diligently to complete this crucial aspect of the project, with the timeline dependent on favorable weather conditions. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through this stage.

Glulam Columns, Beams, and Wood Trusses Fabrication On Schedule:

Despite facing potential challenges posed by the global supply chain interruptions, we are thrilled to report that the submittals and offsite fabrication of the glulam columns, beams, and wood trusses are progressing “on schedule.” Our project team is working tirelessly to ensure the timely delivery of these essential elements, contributing to the overall success of the Wilmington Senior Center construction.
