WILMINGTON, MA — Paul J. Winnett, age 59, of Billerica, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 23, 2024.
Paul was born on November 20, 1964, in Medford, MA; he was the beloved son of the late William H. and Maureen P. “Maura” (Carew) Winnett. Paul was one of 8 siblings who where were raised in a large and loving “Irish Catholic” family in Wilmington. He attended Wilmington public schools, played youth sports, and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1982.
Paul will be fondly remembered as a quiet guy who worked hard throughout his life. Paul was a member of the Wilmington Knights of Columbus for many years, and he enjoyed occasionally socializing at the club.
Paul enjoyed hosting family holidays and special occasions to get everyone together. He loved his family, his friends, and his dog Roscoe with all his heart and he will forever be missed.
Paul was the dear brother of Christine M. DePasquale & her husband Mark, of Salem, NH, William H. Winnett, Jr. of Attleboro, MA, the late James “Jimmy” Winnett, Margaret M. Winnett-Welch of Haverhill, MA, Mary A. Giroux of Billerica, MA, Francis X. Winnett and Elizabeth M. Lawrenson & her husband Jerry all of Wilmington, MA, loving uncle of Meaghan E. Strasshofer & her husband Sean, Katie Briggs & her partner Dennis George, Devin P. Giroux, the late Joshua R. Giroux, the late Ryan M. Giroux, Nolan E. Giroux & his companion Michelle Bortone, James Lawrenson, Tommy Lawrenson, Sophie Welch, Jeremiah Welch, and his great-nieces Ariella, Mylah, and Thea. Paul is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends gathered at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, January 27th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Visiting Hours were held at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 26th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
