WILMINGTON, MA — Carmelo J. “Charles” Corsaro, age 91, of Wilmington, passed away with his family by his side on January 10, 2024, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, MA, following complications related to MS.
Charles was born in Lawrence, MA on November 8, 1932. He was the oldest son of G. Joseph (1907-1967) and Italia “Eva” (Stella) Corsaro (1913-1989).
Charles grew up in Danvers where he graduated from Holten High School, Class of 1952, and worked alongside his father in their barber shop on Maple St. He worked at the IRS in Andover for over 30 years before retiring in 1992.
Charles enjoyed music and art. He belonged to the Wilmington Art Association. Charles attended Masses at St. Thomas of Villanova where he was a member of the choir. Charles also enjoyed playing Scrabble and engaged in weekly Scrabble challenges with a good friend.
Charles was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Corsaro, who passed away on October 21, 2023.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan (Groves) Corsaro of Wilmington and his daughter, Winifred (Winnie) Polomoscanik and her husband, Steven, of Methuen. He was the loving and adoring grandfather to his two grandchildren, Luke and Emily Polomoscanik. Charles is also survived by his two nieces Danielle Dube and Kim Corsaro-Raye.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, January 25th at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24th from 3:00-7:00 p.m.
Memorial donations in Charles’ name may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, “Pediatric Transplant Center, 94483-01”, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
