WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s 2024 local election season has begun.
According to Town Clerk Beth Lawrenson, the following offices will be on the ballot at the Annual Town Election on Saturday, April 27, 2024:
- Select Board, 1 seat, 3-year term (currently held by Lil Maselli)
- Wilmington School Committee, 2 seats, 3-year terms (currently held by David Ragsdale & MJ Byrnes)
- Shawsheen Tech School Committee, 1 seat, 3-year term (currently held by Charlie Fiore)
- Town Moderator, 3-year term (currently held by Jonathan Eaton)
Nomination papers became available in the Town Clerk’s Office this past Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The last day to submit nomination papers, with at least 50 valid signatures from Wilmington voters, is Friday, March 8, 2024.
The Board of Registrars will certify signatures on nomination papers no later than Friday, March 22, 2024. Candidates have until Monday, March 26, 2024 to withdraw from the ballot. The election warrant (ballot) will be posted on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Town Moderator Jonathan Eaton has already pulled his nomination papers and publicly announced his intentions to run for re-election:
“Over the past three years, I have prioritized making the Town Meeting process as accessible as possible. There are a lot of barriers that make participation, at times, difficult, and I have worked to make the process easier to understand to encourage participation by working with WCTV: Wilmington Community Television to put together an informational video, creating a helpful guide to explain the main points of procedure, and by building up the Town Meeting page on the town’s website to create a helpful repository of information to residents.
I look forward to working to earn your vote on April 27, and continuing to serve Wilmington residents.”
The Annual Town Election will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, form 8am to 8pm. In a change, the High School will now serve as one of the town’s polling locations. Precincts 1 & 2 will vote at the Boutwell; Precincts 3 & 4 will vote at the High School; and Precincts 5 & 6 will vote at Town Hall.
The last day to register to vote is Monday, April 17, 2024 by 5pm.
