Streaming Services and Other Alternatives to Cable

Do you want to know what’s the deal with all these streaming services you keep hearing about? Come join Technology Librarian Brad McKenna as he presents alternatives to cable such as Netflix and the library. While not all free, the alternatives will save you quite a bit of money every month.
VIRTUAL Holiday Romance Book Recommendations with Library Journal Reviewer, John Charles
Monday, December 11, 7pm
With the holidays right around the corner, take a minute (or an hour) to relax and find some good holiday romance reads! John Charles will give us his “best of” list of 2023 that will have your TBR pile tipping over and your holidays spent cozying up to a good book (bring your own hot toddy!). No need to bring papyrus and quill, we’ll send out a list after the session.
Cookin’ the Books / Holiday Cookie Exchange
Tuesday, December 12, 12pm
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you. Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online), register on the library events calendar and record your recipe. Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes! December’s featured cookbook is Everyday Grand by Jocelyn Delk Adams. This session will also feature a Holiday Cookie Exchange – bring 1 batch of homemade cookies to share! Please let Circulation Librarian Lisa Crispin know the cookie recipe you are planning on making!

Mystery Making with Sisters in Crime
Thursday, December 14, 6:30pm
In this fun, fast paced improv game, four authors, representing different sub-genres in mystery fiction – from cozy/traditional to thriller/suspense – will brainstorm to create a brand-new mystery. They will be using suggestions from the audience, and thereby offer insights into the workings of mystery authors’ minds and the conventions of the genre. Sisters in Crime New England is a chapter of the international organization Sisters in Crime. They are authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers, and librarians bound by their passion for the mystery genre and their support of women who write mysteries. They welcome Sisters and Brothers in Crime from anywhere who have an interest in the New England mystery community.
Needleworkers

Winter Wellness Series with Chris Connolly

Feeling stressed this holiday season? Join Chris Connolly, RN, BSN, owner of “Living My Dream Yoga,” for a series of meditation and gentle yoga classes. Classes are designed for both those who are new to meditation and yoga and regular practitioners. This session’s theme is combined Meditation and Yoga.

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list on our website!
WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.
WML Virtual Programming
