WILMINGTON, MA — Carol A. (Hastings) Walden, age 77, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
Carol was born in Medford, MA, on February 5, 1946; she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert F. and Annabell (Gourley) Hastings. Carol was one of eight siblings; she was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1963.
Carol will be remembered as a very kind lady who loved her family and friends with all her heart.
Carol is survived by her children, Howard J. Walden III “Jay” and his wife Stephanie of Texas, Robert C. Walden “Robby” and his wife Tammy of New York, and Brandee J. Stigman and her husband Lloyd “CB” of Orange, MA. She was the “Grammy” of Mary (Stacia), Jessica, Alexis, Sidney, Robby, Trent, Elisabeth (Beth), and Alex and “Great Grammy” of Grace, Vaiden, Claire, Xander, Julie, Heather, Tammy, Logan, and Kaydon. Carol was the sister of the late Robert F. Hastings, Jr. and his late wife Rochelle, Ann L. (Hastings) Antinarelli and her late husband Alfred “Fred”, Nancy V. (Hastings) Keister and her late husband Ronald, David R. Hastings and his wife Kathy, Christine E. (Hastings) Dougherty and her husband James, the late James E. Hastings, Evelyn A. (Hastings) Wright and her husband Brian. Carol is further survived by her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will gather for a Service to Celebrate Carol’s life on Tuesday, November 28th at 1:00 p.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA.
Carol had a fondness for animals so in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carol’s memory to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
