Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Celia-Marie (Cornish) Dancewicz, age 56, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on November 21, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Celia-Marie was born in Winchester, MA, on March 4, 1967; she was the cherished daughter of Robert and Celia Cornish. She grew up in Wilmington, attended Wilmington Public Schools, and went on to Wilmington High School where she played softball and was an avid volleyball player for the Wilmington Wildcats. Celia-Marie graduated with the Class of 1985 and went on to further her education at Roger Williams College in Rhode Island where she studied Architecture and played volleyball for the college. Celia-Marie transferred to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she switched majors and earned her bachelor’s degree in communications.
Celia-Marie took a position with the Sky and Telescope Magazine where she was instrumental in advertising layouts for the magazine publications. While working for the magazine, Celia-Marie attended New England School of Photography; she completed her certificate in photography and used her new talents to further her position at the company.
On June 26, 1999, Celia-Marie married “the love of her life” and her “best friend” Joseph Dancewicz. The couple shared many wonderful times together with family and friends; and they loved to play volleyball with the Nashoba Valley League.
The couple started their family soon after with the birth of their son Zachary in 2001 and son Aaron in 2004. Celia-Marie loved being a mom and she beamed with pride when she spoke of “her boys”; she showered them with unconditional love and devotion and was their biggest cheerleader.
Throughout the years, Celia-Marie, enjoyed traveling with family, she attended countless school and sporting events for her sons, and she was very dedicated to the Cub Scouts. Celia-Marie held many positions as a den leader, camp nurse, a mentor, and a friend to the scouts. She was always full of encouragement towards the kids, and she was so proud of her boys and their achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
Celia-Marie also continued her education when her boys were young; she attended Northern Essex Community College and became an LPN in 2008. Shortly after, Celia-Marie took a position as a floor nurse at the E. N. Rogers Veteran’s hospital in Bedford, MA, and quickly became a favorite nurse. Celia-Marie loved her patients; their well-being and care was her priority. Celia-Marie organized parties and holidays celebrations for her patients as well as staff members. She worked diligently during the Covid pandemic to assure her patients were safe, well cared for, and she comforted them and their families when visits were not permitted. Celia-Marie’s compassion and care for her patients was evident in everything she did.
Celia-Marie had a thirst for knowledge and a passion for helping others; she again continued her education by attending Nursing Classes at Fitchburg State College full-time while holding down a full-time job and in May of 2020 she graduated and was pinned as a Registered Nurse.
In her spare time, Celia-Marie, loved using her photography skills; she loved taking still photographs and could find the beauty in everything she took pictures of. Celia-Marie also loved to document family trips, special celebrations, and countless photographs of her sons as they grew. Some of her prints were put out at this past year’s Topsfield Fair and a mini display of her still photography was displayed at the Wilmington Public Library.
Celia-Marie was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. She was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need; always putting others before herself. Celia-Marie left such an imprint on everyone she met; she will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Celia-Marie was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Dancewicz, devoted mother of Zachary Dancewicz and Aaron Dancewicz all of Wilmington, cherished daughter of Robert and Celia F.
