Wilmington Public Schools Hiring Substitute Teachers, Educational Assistants, & Nurses

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools is seeking substitute teachers at the elementary school, middle school and high school levels, according to a job listing posted on November 21, 2023.

Substitute teacher rates in Wilmington are as follows:

• Day to day: $80/day without a DESE license, $90/day with a DESE license
• 31-59 days in the same assignment: $105/day without a DESE license, $115/day with a DESE license
• 60-89 days in the same assignment: $120/day without a DESE license, $130/day with a DESE license
• 90 or more days in the same assignment: $280.95/day (must have a DESE license)

The school system is also seeking substitute educational assistants ($75/day) and substitute nurses ($125/day).

Premium Pay Day and Incentive Bonus Plan Reminder:

• Substitute staff members who work at least 50 days during the school year will be eligible to receive a one-time incentive payment of $100, above and beyond the substitute’s regular earned pay.
• Substitute staff members who work at least 75 days during the school year will be eligible to receive a one-time incentive payment of $150, above and beyond the substitute’s regular earned pay.
• Substitute staff members who work at least 100 + days during the school year will be eligible to receive a one-time incentive payment of $200, above and beyond the substitute’s regular earned pay.

In addition, the need for substitutes staff members varies each day, but due to the increased need for substitute staff members on Mondays and Fridays WPS will be paying premium pay to substitute staff members who work on Monday and Fridays; an additional $10 will be paid to per diem substitute staff who work on Monday or Friday.
