Below is an obituary from Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home:

COLEBROOK, VT — Caren A. Jones, of Colebrook, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, Oct. 27, 2023, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital.

She was born in East Boston, Mass., one of two daughters to the late Edmund “Poppy” Jones and Eleanor “Grammie” (Gallagher) Jones. Caren and her sister were raised in East Boston and Wilmington, Mass. Caren was an avid athlete in her younger years and especially enjoyed softball. She was a member of a women’s league and then shared her passion for the sport as a youth coach.

In her early years she worked at Sweetheart Plastics and later Standard Electric and Medford Wellington. After retiring, Caren and her husband moved to the north country in 2019. She worked for a time for the Abbey Group in food service for the local schools where she made many new friends.

She delighted in the outdoors and enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and fishing. She loved being at the ocean and would go to the beach at any opportunity. She lived life to the fullest and cherished her time with family and friends. She spent many a Friday night enjoying a cold beer on ice visiting, laughing, playing pool or sitting around a fire. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will treasure memories of baking cookies, going to the beach, discovering the ice cream truck, watching movies and most of all her warm hugs.

Caren leaves behind her husband of almost 20 years, Edmund D. Wood of Colebrook; two daughters, Tanika Beauchemin and her husband Arthur of Colebrook, their children, Alice and Jesse, and Lindsey Centanni and her husband Anthony of Murrieta, Calif., their children Landon, Aidan and Caleb; her granddaughter, Lauren Greenman and her husband Joe of Colebrook, their children, Jewel and Lorelei; two nieces, Jennifer Merrill and family of Kingston, N.H.; Michaela “Midge” Parker of Lowell, Mass.; a nephew, Eric Chase and family of Manchester, N.H., and a cousin Linda Hunter and family of Florida. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind her aunt Bettie Lane of Winthrop, Mass., and her best friend Debra Hayes and family of Lowell.

She is predeceased by her sister, Ruth Chase, and brother-in-law, Bill.

In accordance with her wishes there are no public calling hours. A celebration of Caren’s life will be held by the family at a later date.
