WILMINGTON POLICE LOG for October 20, 2023

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Friday, October 20, 2023:
  • A Grove Avenue caller reported her Ring camera kept altering her of something in her yard. She looked at the camera and saw a male party walking in her backyard. Her husband went out to confront him and yelled to her to call the cops. Man was described as 30/40-year-old possible Hispanic, wearing all black, with scrubs on his feet. Police unsure if it was a break-in attempt or mental health issue. Police, with assistance of K9, checked area and were unable to locate him. A neighbor noted hearing noises in the woodline that weren’t animals. A garage window has pry marks on them. Caller provided Ring footage to police. (3:48am)
  • Police notified DPW that a street sign was stolen from Grove Avenue. (5:10am)
  • Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the Oakwood Road area. Checked OK. Driver was a contractor for National Grid. (9:06am)
  • Carolina Jesus De Castillo (27, Lawrence) was served a summons for Shoplifting ($250+ Value) by Asportation. Target employee requested an officer after detaining a shoplifter. (12:17pm)
  • Police and Building Inspector responded to report of a car striking the Rizzo’s Pizza building on Church Street. No injuries noted. (4:07pm)
  • Alexis Tomas Calderon (32, Woburn) was served a summons for Operating A Motor Vehicle With A Suspended License. Calderon was involved in a crash on Lowell Street. (7:27pm)
  • James McLaughlin (33, Everett) was served a summons for Operating A Motor Vehicle With A Suspended License, Negligent Operation Of A Motor Vehicle, and Marked Lanes Violation. (7:27pm)
  • Police responded two complaints about a large gathering on Lawrence Street, with a possible gunshot. Police responded. Sound was from a can tossed into the fire. Police advised the parties to keep it down for the evening. (11:10pm)
