OBITUARY: Barry E. Garden, 69

WILMINGTON, MA — Barry E. Garden, age 69, of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on September 24, 2023, at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington.

Barry was born in Stoneham, MA, on January 8, 1954; he was the cherished son of the late Charles S. Garden, Sr. and Thelma (Rees) Garden. Barry was raised and educated in Wilmington, MA and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class 1973.

Following High School, Barry, went to work for John Hancock in Boston, he worked his way through the ranks and learned as much as he could about investments. Barry worked for several financial companies throughout the years, making many friends with his co-workers as well as his clients.

In his spare time, Barry, thoroughly enjoyed acting and was a member of a few local theater groups in Winchester and Lexington. Barry also had a passion of all things British and was intrigued with the Royals.

Barry was also very giving of his time and talents throughout the years, as a young man he was a member of the DeMolay and went on to become a Mason and member of the Friendship Lodge. Barry furthered his studies and most recently became a member of the Scottish Rite.

Barry also loved to take to the road, jumping in his car with a cup of Dunkins coffee and no particular destination. He loved to explore, meet new people and see new places. Barry looked forward to spending time with his “little buddies” Gavin and Luke and visiting his favorite “furry friend” Sadie.

Barry will be fondly remembered for his love of animals and people; he was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend; he will forever live in the hearts of those he touched.

Barry was the dear brother of Jay A. Irwin and her husband William of Wilmington, the late Jane T. Condon, Charles “Stuart” Garden, Jr., and Jack A. Garden. Brother-in-law of Sally Garden of Center Harbor, NH, beloved Uncle to Dawn Greco, Darcy Valido, Dean Valido, Johanna Lundquist, Kate Roy, Charles S. Garden III, Brittany Irwin, Keith Irwin & his wife Jennifer, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Service to Celebrate Barry’s life on Saturday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilmington Congregational Church, 220 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barry’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
