LIBRARY NEWS: Tiny Art Reception On October 2; Costume Craze On October 7

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Adult Programs

Mini Succulent-Topped Pumpkin Demonstration
Monday, October 2, 3pm
Master Flower Show Judge and Wilmington resident Kathy Leva will demonstrate how to make long lasting mini succulent-topped pumpkins. These make wonderful gifts or dazzling place settings. When the mini pumpkins fade, you can plant and grow the succulents. Each participant will receive a take & make kit to create their own at home.

Needleworkers at Night
Monday, October 2, 6:30pm
Can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day? We’ve added evening sessions on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie. Drop in.

Spirits of the Bay State

Massachusetts is home to some of the most historic places in America, what ghostly stories can be found walking down its many old roads and highways? Find curious abandoned places, haunted beaches, tavern ghosts and eerie cemeteries. Take a spirited journey highlighting stops in many cities and towns and explore stories of legends on this fun tour of mysterious area haunts.

VIRTUAL 50+ Job Seekers
Wednesday, October 4, 9:30am
If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking!

Needleworkers
Friday, October 6, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie. Drop in.

VIRTUAL Fiction Critique Group

Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Costume Craze Collection
Monday, October 2 – Friday, October 6, All Day
Bring your lightly worn or new kids and teen Halloween costumes to the library between September 23rd and October 6th! Then, come back on October 7th to find a new-to-you kids or teen costume! All ages

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, October 2, 10am
The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join us for our community playgroup where we will work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask us about any resources we can help provide for you and your family. The first playgroup of every month will focus on infants and toddlers. Ages 0-6, siblings welcome

Tiny Art Show Reception!

LEGO Building
Thursday, October 5, 3:45pm
Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans and display what you make in the library! Grades K-5

Read to Brandie
Thursday, October 5, 6pm
Come read to Brandie, a lovable dog that loves to listen to kids read! Sign up for one 15 minute session per family. Siblings and caregivers are welcome. Grades K-6

Costume Craze!
Saturday, October 7, All Day
Kids grow fast! Come pick out a new-to-you kids or teen costume! No costume drop-off required in order to take one. Costume donations will not be accepted at this event. Donations will be accepted from September 23rd to October 6th. All ages

Additional Information

Book Store Next Door

The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

WML In-Person Programming

Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming

The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.
