Below is a press release from CombatFC, which first appeared on mixedmartialarts.com:
WILMINGTON, MA — CombatFC is locked and loaded for their biggest event ever on Friday, September 15, 2023, live from the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
In addition to the previously announced main event between the undefeated Jake “The Gorilla” Pilla (4-0) and grizzled veteran John Douma (7-4), CombatFC recently announced one of their biggest fights ever.
UFC veteran and bantamweight prospect Randy Costa (7-4) is set to take on Johnny “Cupcakes” Campbell (22-15) in what promises to be an incredible fight. Randy is fresh off a highlight-reel knockout in the co-main event of CombatFC 4 and looks to put a stamp on his campaign to get back to the UFC against one of his toughest foes to date.
“Cupcakes” Campbell has fought a who’s who of the MMA world, most recently fighting on short notice against former UFC title challenger Wilson Reis, and also has huge wins up and down his resume and looks to prove once again that he’s the best 135-pound fighter in New England.
Also on the card is a matchup between MMA legends Rick Hawn (21-5) and Drew Fickett (43-22). Both made a name for themselves on the world stage, with Hawn winning multiple Bellator tournaments and challenging then champion Michael Chandler for the title. Fickett had a great run with the UFC, beating fighters like Josh Koscheck, Kurt Pellegrino and Josh Neer, and both guys are eager to compete against another high-level martial artist at CombatFC 5.
Tickets are available and going fast at Tix.com.
