AMESBURY, MA — Sally E. (Rose) Tinkham, age 84, lifelong Amesbury resident, passed peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, August 8, 2023, at AdviniaCare Country Center in Newburyport. She was truly devoted to the love of her life, David J. Tinkham, who passed on July 31, 2018.
Born in Amesbury, September 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Helen E. (Norton) Rose and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1956, then went on to receive an Associates Degree from the Mass College of Art. She loved gardening and could bring any space to life with color and beauty, which was her true artistic calling.
Sally was a data entry supervisor at AVCO in Wilmington, which was bought out by Textron, working through the transition years until her retirement after 30 plus years.
She is survived by her brother, Robert A. Rose of Hampton, NH; her step-children, David G. Tinkham of Campton, NH, Daniel M. Tinkham of Londonderry, NH, Audrey J. Grew of Plaistow, NH, and Brenda A. Laycock of Sandown, NH, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. In addition to her parents, Sally was also predeceased by her two sisters, Patricia A. Sullivan and Maureen F. Rose.
There will be a private Graveside Service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury, where Sally will be laid to rest in the family plot alongside her mother, sisters and David. It was Sally’s wish to have donations in her memory made payable to St. Joseph Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 11 Sparhawk Street, Amesbury MA 01913. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
